  • very cool.  that older font is purty near indecipherable, but looks great on the page.  where do you acquire these?

  • @promisesunshine - they came to me when my dad died. did you note the dates on them?

  • I love that I know on sight the old s being a n "f" without the cross bar and the lil version is an "r  it always amuses me. be glad it is the conquest of quebec.. grams taught me it isn't kwuh bec you damn yankee, but keh bec... about all I got on the subject :D

  • i did.  i was almost annoyed that the roman numeral date was translated (since it's entertaining to test memory).  is there a story with how your dad got them?  and maybe a reason you were looking at them today?

  • @promisesunshine - i was just looking at them this morning. im not sure where they all came from. i have a shelf of them. these two are the oldest. ill post more, i thought these would be a good start. my favorites are the atlases and dictionaries

  • a very good start.  :)   fascinating stuff.  your dad must have been an interesting man too.
i like to read the dictionary for fun.

  • @promisesunshine - my dad was a bit of a hoarder. i always say that im the only kid on the block to have a belly gunners turret from a bomber in his back yard. i do enjoy a good dictionary. they say so much about the current culture of their printing.
my favorite is my 1880s 4 vol set. everything the industrial revolution needed.

  • i hope you don't mind that i'm drooling a little bit about a 4 vol. set dictionary.
going over to google to find out what a "belly gunner turret from a bomber" is.
hoarder/collector.  it's all in your viewpoint, right?

  • looks like an outer space gizmo.  :)
