Why is the sea king of a hundred streams?
Because it lies below them.
Therefore it is the king of a hundred streams.
If the sage would guide the people, he must serve with humility.
If he would lead them, he must follow behind.
In this way when the sage rules, the people will not feel oppressed; When he stands before them, they will not be harmed.
The whole world will support him and will not tire of him.
Because he does not compete, He does not meet competition.

This is such a beautiful post my friend and should be rec’d several times over..these teachings are very close to my heart
“When he stands before them, they will not be harmed.” I think this is the line that stands out most for me. If we could all conduct ourselves to be this way with everyone we meet, in the choice of our words and actions. I recognize the times when I’m not acting in the most humble way, when other things are bothering me. To be able to let go of everything and not have it influence in any way…hard practice to learn.
