  • tao for lunch ‘chapter 70′

    My words are easy to understand and easy to perform, Yet no man under heaven knows them or practices them.

    My words have ancient beginnings.

    My actions are disciplined.

    Because men do not understand, they have no knowledge of me.

    Those that know me are few; Those that abuse me are honored.

    Therefore the sage wears rough clothing and holds the jewel in his heart.

    ‘miss iris at rest’

    last night i was sitting in my easy chair, and i noticed i was being surrounded.

    the four cats were gathered. i thought, how nice, they all want my attention.

    they werent looking at me. they were all in hunter mode.butts wiggling, ears down, pupils dilated.

    they were very focused. i was concerned.

    they made their move. all hell broke loose.

    fortunately i was not the subject of their attack.

    a ‘fly’ was on my computer, and they wanted it.

    i can understand, candy with wings what could be better.

    now, ive mentioned here before about them all being ‘polydactyles’ [extra toes] which gives them catcher mitts.

    and the sport they seem to like most is grabbing the flies in mid flight. this is fun and entertaining, a real popcorn effect.

    out of the blue a cats in the air paws out, a real pop fly catch. and i gotta say they are very good at it. however, they are better at getting air born then they are at planning landings.

    now these kids of mine can catch air, a good 3 to 4 foot leaps.

    demure ‘miss iris’ the most mannerly of the bunch, surprised me with a 3 foot jump that spanned at least 6 feet across the living room and ended on an end table with a thump and crash of a lamp. her focus never broke, despite her landing on the corner of the table.

    i hate flies and i love my cats,so let the games begin.

    very high entertainment value. and they earn their keep.

  • morning tao ‘chapter 22′

    Yield and overcome;
    Bend and be straight;
    Empty and be full;
    Wear out and be new;
    Have little and gain;
    Have much and be confused.

    Therefore the wise embrace the one
    And set an example to all.
    Not putting on a display,
    They shine forth.
    Not justifying themselves,
    They are distinguished.
    Not boasting,
    They receive recognition.
    Not bragging,
    They never falter.
    They do not quarrel,
    So no one quarrels with them.
    Therefore the ancients say, “Yield and overcome.”
    Is that an empty saying?
    Be really whole,
    And all things will come to you.

  • memories or imaginings

    the days of celebration have arrived, the stars where right.

    the Nile was high, we were in a time of prosperity, there was beer and bread for all.

    Heliopolis was radiant. necropolis was equally decorated for the coming events.

    the Apis bulls had been selected, groomed and fed, hand-maidens doted on every conceivable need.

    the great work had been completed. three great stone structures representing our home in the stars.

    special children had been chosen,like the bulls,picked for specific attributes,and put to training for the events that were to unfold.

    one was to be chosen, to enter the central structure.

    the transformation, of a lowly apprentice to that of a messenger of the gods.

    this child would never know his own ego,trained as a blank slate.

    his day had arrived, his duty was laid out for him before his birth.

    the priests had dressed him and prepared the chamber for his occupation.

    the sarcophagus filled with scented oil so as to allow the initiate to float, suspended.

    suspended in the darkness of the great work.

    all the subtle energy’s taken in to consideration.

    the older priests intonations more vibrations than song. filled the confines of the chambers bringing the stone to life.

    the great wheel moved as he transected the great chamber to the crawl space that leads to the heart of the machine.

    he enters with all the solemness of his training, moves through the darkness and reclines in to the oil. he begins to chant his counter to the chanting of the old ones.

    he drifts.

    the mixture of sacred herbs and flowers that were part of his morning devotions, now took his body gently away from him.

    he floated independent of his body and mind, ego-less into the void.

    the walls came to life with the visions of this world, he saw the far side of our planet and all its occupants.

    soon the planet became as a flower among many.

    he moved freely, yet there was direction.

    he could see the great river in the sky and the high Nile laid over each other as a mirrors reflection ,in that moment he was pulled across the galaxy, home?

    he knew paradise. in exchange his body became the avatar of one greater.

  • morning tao ‘chapter 53′

    If I have even just a little sense, I will walk on the main road and my only fear will be of straying from it.

    Keeping to the main road is easy, But people love to be sidetracked.

    When the court is arrayed in splendor, The fields are full of weeds, And the granaries are bare.

    Some wear gorgeous clothes, Carry sharp swords, And indulge themselves with food and drink; They have more possessions than they can use.

    They are robber barons. This is certainly not the way of Tao.

  • tao in the morning ‘chapter 68′

    A good soldier is not violent.

    A good fighter is not angry.

    A good winner is not vengeful A good employer is humble.

    This is known as the Virtue of not striving.

    This is known as ability to deal with people.

    This since ancient times has been known as the ultimate unity with heaven.
